Marc Delphine Officially Nominated as Libertarian Candidate for US Senate
Marc Delphine, Oregon’s first openly-gay candidate for federal office, received the official nomination and endorsement from the Libertarian Party of Oregon last Saturday. Running for US Senate, Delphine announced his candidacy in March with a mission of “bringing communities together.”
“We as a nation have been divided for far too long. Decimated by labels, we seem to grow further and further apart while our government is growing larger and more intrusive. We must put a stop to record deficits, the erosion of our civil liberties and the destruction of our environment. It is now time for a younger, fresher voice for Oregon,” said Delphine.
Delphine, who is a native Oregonian and owns a college and financial planning firm in Tigard has been a leader in the Gay & Lesbian community for 10 years. He currently serves as the chair of Americans for Prosperity, Washington County where he organized and led Washington County’s TEA Party rallies in 2009 & 2010. His platform is opposed to the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy, in favor of industrial hemp for jobs and the environment and is campaigning on “Audit the Fed.”
Marc Delphine currently serves on the Mt. View Middle School local school committee and was elected to the Tigard Water Board in 2003.
The Libertarian Party is the nation’s third largest political party and Oregon’s oldest continually existing statewide third party, having elected dozens of people to elected offices in communities all across the state.
