A message to my brothers and sisters in the LGBT Community:
To my brothers and sisters in the LGBT Community:
I am the first openly-gay candidate for US Senate in Oregon’s history and I am seeking your support. With the understanding that our current senator, Ron Wyden (D) is a supporter of gay rights, our voice will almost assuredly be unheard if my candidacy is not exposed because the Republicans will not address the LGBT. So why should Wyden?
I believe my campaign is worthy of your support for at least that reason.
Socially liberal and fiscally conservative, but unlike Wyden, I work, live and lead in Oregon. I am offering a different message than any candidate in this great state. A message that seems to resonate with so many and that is the establishment, as it stands, is broken and it will take a new voice to be heard in order to create true, lasting change. We need personal freedom, but we must take responsibility for our actions and we must all have an equal opportunity to pursue happiness.
Please consider my candidacy as one that you can support with connection and money. Financial help is important, but equally important is connecting with those sympathetic to our message.
Having been very active in the Portland LGBT community for the past 7 years (about the time I came out) I now serve on the board of PABA, (Portland’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce) and I’ve given volunteer and financial support to causes such as Cascade AIDS Project, Sexual Minority Youth Center and the Equity Foundation. I am a leader in our community.
This campaign is very active and just needs a little boost to be seen. Please check out our website, www.marcforsenate.com and reply with your thoughts. We will continue to move forward for equality, for civil rights and for personal freedom. With your help, we will make that happen!

So far, so good! I’m always a little sketchy with candidates until I check them out, hear them speak, etc. You sound like the real deal.
As the mother of a gay son and a bi-sexual daughter, I am very pleased that you are open about your life. Also like the fact that you’ve been so active in the LGBT community.
Good luck!
